Nicola Roberts - Maths Hub Lead
Nicola is the Maths Hub Lead for the London Thames Maths Hub. Nicola has been teaching in primary school settings since 2004. She lead maths alongside her SLT and teaching position, introducing Teaching for Mastery and embedding it in her school. Nicola is a Primary Teaching for Mastery Specialist, an accredited Professional Development Lead as well as achieving an NPQ in Leading Teacher Development. She enjoys working with teachers and schools to further develop their understanding of Teaching for Mastery and seeing the impact this has on the children's learning.
Frankie Saxby - Assistant Maths Hub Lead Primary
Frankie has been teaching in the primary school phase since 2012 and is currently part of the Maths team at Granton Primary School in Lambeth. Since embarking on the Teaching for Mastery journey at her school, Frankie has been deeply inspired by the approach's underpinning principles and enjoys bringing maths to life through the Five Big Ideas. In 2019, she completed her Primary Maths Specialist training with the NCETM and is now an accredited Professional Development Lead. Frankie is passionate about supporting other schools in developing and implementing Teaching for Mastery approaches, working collaboratively to improve maths teaching across the region.
Emma Harris - Assistant Maths Hub Lead Secondary and Post-16
Emma has been teaching mathematics in Secondary school since 2016, she was Head of Faculty for 7 years before taking a part-time teaching position and formalising her role with the Maths hub as Assistant Maths Hub Lead. Emma is passionate about teaching mathematics and ensuring access for all students. Emma has completed Secondary Mastery Specialist training with the NCETM and is an accredited PD lead.

Gemma Brittle is the Assistant Maths Hub Lead Secondary and Post-16 for the London Thames Maths Hub.

Chris Hollands - Primary Headteacher Advocate (Bromley)
Chris has been working as a teacher in primary schools since 2004 and has been lucky enough to teach EYFS, Year Six and most year groups in between. In 2017 he became a Headteacher and is now the Headteacher Advocate for the NCETM for Bromley, helping promote the great work of the Maths Hubs to his colleagues in the Local Authority where he helps organise the forum for Deputy Headteachers. As Assessment Lead for his MAT (Aquinas), he is passionate about using data to make an impact on curriculum and classroom practice. Chris is a facilitator for ECT programmes and for the NPQSL and NPQH.
Jane Scarsbrook - Primary Headteacher Advocate (Lambeth)
Jane has 18 years experience in teaching and leading primary schools in London. Jane developed an interest in children's reasoning in mathematics during her initial teacher training and achieved Advanced Skills Teacher status as a class teacher for her work supporting colleagues as well as leading maths across a federation of five schools. Alongside her career as a senior leader, Jane completed an MA in Education with a focus on children's imaginative talk in maths and went on to pursue doctoral research at Cambridge University into children's reasoning about shape, space and measure. Jane completed her PhD in 2021; she is now Headteacher of Glenbrook Primary School in Clapham Park, a Thames Maths Hub partner school.
As a Headteacher Advocate for the Thames Maths Hub, Jane welcomes enquiries about upcoming Mastery showcase events at Glenbrook Primary School. Jane works with an expert team of teachers at Glenbrook including a Mastery specialist teacher. The Glenbrook teaching team is committed to the principles of the Mastery approach and to ensuring that children develop confidence and fluency at each stage of their maths journey. In 2022 Glenbrook's maths results in Year 6 were significantly above the national and Lambeth averages. Jane's main aim is that all pupils see themselves as mathematicians and enjoy every new challenge.
Martina Martin - Primary Headteacher Advocate (Croydon)
Martina is the Headteacher of St John's CofE Primary School.
Marie Nassor - Secondary Headteacher Advocate
Marie has been a teacher of Mathematics for over 30 years in South London and still enjoys teaching Mathematics in her role as Head of School. She is a strong advocate of the Mastery approach and worked closely with the Maths Hub when developing the curriculum for a new Secondary School. She has been lucky enough to work with two inspiring Heads of Maths in her current role, both of whom are Maths Hub Leads.
Christopher Reilly - Senior Leadership Link
Christopher started his career teaching career in east Manchester, before moving to Canada for a year to teach in a children’s hospital and an adult learning centre. He then moved to South East London and progressed to Head of Department at an inner city school before moving up to Cambridgeshire to become an Assistant Headteacher with pastoral responsibilities. More recently Christopher has been working as a Mathematics Consultant in Central London, Kent and Essex overseeing KS4 mathematics for 31 secondary schools.
Being involved with the wider mathematics community has always been important to Christopher who has led Maths Hub workgroups following Professional Development and School Development Lead accreditation with the NCETM and has worked within and outside the local area as a Specialist Leader in Education for mathematics.
Christopher advanced to Maths Hub Lead of London Thames Maths Hub, in that role he enjoyed the experience of visiting schools, supporting teachers and students by working with Local Leaders of Mathematics Education .
Progressing to Senior Leadership Link at London Thames Maths Hub Christopher is now working with local and national education partners to support London Thames Maths Hub in its mission to work with schools, teachers and students in a collaborative endeavour to explore the wonderful field of Mathematics.
Jade Robinson - Maths Hub Coordinator
The London Thames Maths Hub Coordinator and first point of contact for all general enquiries. She is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of the Maths Hub through coordination and organisation of hub activities and events.
Thabothini Varathan - Maths Hub Administrator
Thabothini is the Maths Hub Administrator for the London Thames Maths Hub.
